Nancy was born October 10, 1860 in Hempstead, (Austin County at that time), Texas. As reflected on her death certificate, her father's name was Sam Bramlett and the mother's name was unknown. There is no further information available on her parents or her brother, Sam.

On the 1870 and 1880 U.S. Census, she and her younger brother Samuel are living with their grandparents, Wilson and Mary Hanks, and several other relatives also residing in the household.

She later met John Mosley Behn, Sr. , and on November 7, 1881 they were married in Hempstead (then Waller County), Texas. At that time, John was a widower with four small children, George, Arthur, Henry and J.E. John's first wife, Mary Barber Behn, had died sometime after the census of 1880. Nancy raised George, Arthur, Henry and J.E. and loved them as she did her own children, she being the only mother they really knew.

Nancy and John had 12 children, eight sons, Prince Albert II, John Jr., Charlie, Thomas W., Luraine (L.R.), General Eckie, Samuel and Mosley; and four daughters, Mattie, Addie, Julia Barbara and Alverta.

On April 13, 1901, Nancy's beloved John passed away, she being pregnant with the youngest child, Mosley, whom she gave birth to the very next month. In addition to being pregnant, she had eight other children, all under the age of 18, and she now had the task of raising them alone.

Nancy was a very strong and loving mother, and she and her children all pulled together to do what needed to be done. Maybe because she did not have her own mother when growing up is what made her so fiercely protective of her own children. And they in turn were fiercely protective of her, acknowledging all the sacrifices she had made for them through the years.

On November 14, 1947, God called Nancy home,"Come unto Me and I will give you rest."

Preceding her in death are her husband, John, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Bramlett; sons, Arthur, Charlie, Thomas W. and Samuel Behn; and one daughter, Alverta Behn Watkins.

Survivors are seven sons, George, Henry, Prince Albert, John Mosley, Jr., Lurain, General Eckie and Mosley Leonard Behn; three daughters, Mattie Jones, Addie Miller and Julia Barbara Reid; and many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services entrusted to the care of Reed's Funeral Home, McKinney, Texas.
