Grandpa Way Dead
Ira Way was born Oct. 5th, 1817 at Victor, Tioga county, N. Y. He was married to Elizabeth A. Morse in Tioga county, New York, November 23, 1848. Eight children were born to this union, four of whom are still living, Mrs. O. J. Scofield, who is living at Butternut, Wis.; Mrs. O. P. Mingus, residing at Ravenna; and O. L. Way and Miss Emma Way, who are living near Ashton.
Mr. Way came to Nebraska in Dec. 1879, and settled on a farm northeast of Ashton, where he died.
Mr. Ira Way died April 30th, 1905, age 86 years, 6 months and 24 days. He was a kind and affectionate husband, a kind and loving father and a christian with an unfaltering faith in God and his dear Savior, Jesus Christ. He died in hope of the resurrection of the just.
The funeral was held at the Presbyterian church, at Ashton, Rev. David Bain of Sweetwater, officiated, assisted by Rev. Longstaff of Ashton. The remains were laid to rest in the Ashton cemetery by the side of his wife who died in 1887, and three children.
