Zola Yancey Ricks, 93, of Ammon, passed away Friday, December 1, 2006, at the home of her daughter.

She was born November 22, 1913, in Groveland, Idaho to James Henry and Effie Jane Cobbley Yancey.

After graduating from Blackfoot High School, she enrolled in the Excelcis Beauty School in Salt Lake City. She then worked in Blackfoot and Idaho Falls beauty salons. While working in Idaho Falls she met Lawrence Ricks and in 1940 they were married in the Salt Lake Temple.

They made their home on the Ricks family homestead in Ammon. Zola supported her husband in making their livelihood on the farm. They were blessed with five children.

Zola was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and has served in many positions in all of the organizations. She and her husband served for many years in the Idaho Falls Temple. They served a mission together in the Las Vegas Nevada Mission and again in the Louisiana Baton Rouge Mission.

Zola loved the out of doors, their family reunions and hiking with her children. She enjoyed writing histories, keeping a journal, reading scriptures, writing letters and making quilts. She loved her family, and was a devoted wife, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her five children; Larry (Mary) Ricks of Shelley, Beth (Roger) Clymore of Ammon, Wayne (SueAnn) Ricks of Salt Lake City, John (Peggy) Ricks of Pocatello, and David (Viola) Ricks serving in the Micronesia Guam Mission; her brother Harold (Ruth) Yancey of Bountiful, Sisters Edythe Bradley of Bountiful, Evelyn Yancey of Bountiful and Maxine Stone of Stockton, California. 25 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006, at the Ammon LDS 18th Ward, with Bishop Scott Bruce officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St, Idaho Falls and for one hour before services at the church. Interment will be at Ammon Cemetery.

The family would like to thank those from Creekside Home Care and Hospice who have helped and given of their time and loving care.
