Colquitt, found by his mother who had heard a gunshot, was lying in the library of his home with a wound in his head. Justice of the Peace W. L. Sterrett returned a verdict of suicide.
Colquitt served three terms as Flotorial Representive of the Fifty-first District of Dallas, Collin and Rockwall Counties. He first took part in politics as he managed his father's successful campaigns for Governor in 1910 and 1912. Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Alice Colquitt, and a son Rawlins Colquitt Jr.
