Actress. She was raised in Newark, New Jersey, where her father and mother, both Christian Scientists, worked as a newspaper editor and stenographer. Bennett acted in the Brooklyn stock company of Harry Blaney and other traveling troupes, as well as on Broadway, and then went to Hollywood to begin a movie career. She made her debut in "Gentleman's Fate" (1931) followed by roles in "Emma" (1932) and "Taxi!" (1932). She established herself as a comedic supporting actress, and appeared in approximately twenty-two films over six years. Other roles included "The Purchase Price" (1932), "Doctor X" (1932), "The Prizefighter and the Lady" (1933), "Dames" (1934), "Housewife" (1934), and "Mark of the Vampire" (1935). During her career, she co-starred opposite such legends as Barbara Stanwyck, George Brent, Fay Wray, Lee Tracy, Bette Davis, Dick Powell, Bela Lugosi, and Ruby Keeler. She made her last appearance in the 1936 Spencer Tracy-Sylvia Sidney drama "Fury". She later resided in Florida and New York City with her husband Francis M. (Frank) Keough (1869-1945), the longtime manager of Palm Beach's Beach Club restaurant and casino, who she married in 1934.
