DEATH OF MRS. A. G. BRENIZER

SUDDENLY OF HEART FAILURE

Yesterday Afternoon at 4:15 O'clock, Mrs. A. G. Brenizer Passed Away at Her Home in This City--She Was Miss Frances Gilmer, of Greensboro, When She Was Married to Capt. Brenizer in 1862--Had Been a Resident of Charlotte for Thirty Years--Is Survived by Her Husband and Five Children--Funeral Services Will Be Conducted at the Residence This Evening at 6 O'clock.

Suddenly, death's summons yesterday came to Mrs. Frances Gilmer Brenizer, wife of Capt. A. G. Brenizer, and the entire community feels a sense of deep bereavement. At 4:14 o'clock she died of heart failure at the Brenizer residence on East Ninth street. With her at the time was her youngest son, Mr. Addison G. Brenizer, Jr. While Mrs. Brenizer had been subjected to heart trouble for a long time, there was nothing in her physical condition to prepare her family for the sad and distressing stroke which ended her life. Only last Tuesday she had returned from a trip to St. Louis with her husband.

Mrs. Brenizer was 61 years old. Her life had been identified with the most cultured surroundings from her early days until the end. Daughter of a race which has reflected the acme of the State's best thought and effort, she was ever concerned with the highest and widest interests of her family, her friends and the communities in which she bore her part.

She was the daughter of John A. Gilmer and Julia A. Gilmer, and was born at Greensboro, where her brother, the late Judge John A. Gilmer, had also resided. After her marriage to Captain Brenizer, on May 12, 1862, she went to make her husband's home at Columbia, S.C., subsequently coming to Charlotte thirty years ago, and becoming immediately identified with the best life of the city. She had been a member of the First Presbyterian church for 23 years, and her services there will not be forgotten.

Surviving Mrs. Brenizer are her husband; a sister-Mrs. S. J. Perry, of Atlanta, Ga.-and five children-Dr. Gilmer Brenizer of Washington, D. C.; Mr. Chase Brenizer; Mrs. Robert A. Dunn, Miss Hattie Brenizer and Mr. Addison G. Brenizer, Jr.

This death is deplored, indeed. As a hostess, Mrs. Brenizer was gracious in her home-sunny of temper, high-minded and hospitable, truly and unreservedly.

The funeral services will be conducted at the residence, No. 307 East Ninth street, at 6 o'clock this evening, and Rev. Dr. W. W. Moore and Rev. Dr. Martin D. Hardin will conduct them. The pall-bearers will be the elders and deacons of the First Presbyterian church.
