Sherman E. Satterfield, 75, 3410 Oaklyn, died Friday in Ball Hospital after becoming ill while working in his yard.

A native of Arden, W.Va., Mr. Satterfield was a resident of Muncie most of his life. He was a graduate of Central High School. He retired in February after 33 years with the Indiana Bell Telephone Company, six of which were spent as a supervisor to the South Bend area.

A member of Delaware Lodge 46, F&AM, and the Telephone Pioneers of America, he served in the U.S. Army and was a World War II veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Katie; three sons, Steve of Muncie, Dave of Union City, Ohio, and Jerrol of Mishawaka; one sister, Mrs. Velda Weaver of St. Petersburg, Fla.; three brothers, Gerald and Dana, both of Muncie, and Albert of Largo; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Parson Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jeffery G. Snider, pastor of the Normal City United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday and immediately before services on Monday. Masonic memorial services will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.
