Lou was born Jan. 10, 1922 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the son of Louis C. and Alma M. Anderson. He grew up in Terreton where he attended his elementary schooling graduating from Idaho Falls High School. He also attended Curtis - Wright Technical Institute in Glendale, California.
He married Doris E. Mortensen on Aug. 31, 1963 in Rexburg, Idaho and was sealed Aug. 31, 1979 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They lived in Rexburg, North Hollywood, CA.; Lake View Terrace CA. moving to St. Anthony where they lived for many years. While in St. Anthony he worked as parts manager for Stones Town and Country and later for Howard Equipment. Mrs. Anderson died Dec. 3, 2010.
Lou was active in the LDS Church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, Elders Quorum counselor, Assistant ward Clerk, High Priest group secretary, home teacher and ward magazine representative.
He enjoyed playing the pedal steel guitar and participated in many western bands. He loved music, photography, woodcraft, collecting old cameras and fishing. He was loved and adored by family, friends and he always had a smile on his face and a hearty laugh.
He is survived by son-in-law Vard Wright, (DiAnn - deceased) of Wilford, ID.; children - Julie (David) Harden, Boise, ID.; Rick (Debbie) Mortensen and Terry (Lois) Mortensen both of Rexburg, 15 Grandchildren, 37 Great Grandchildren. Besides his wife he was preceded in death by daughters DiAnn & Twylla, 8 brothers 2 sisters, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Twin Groves Second LDS Ward with Bp. Gerry Hackworth, Officiating. Friends may call at the Bidwell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. and at the church Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Idaho Falls Fielding Cemetery.
