-- The funeral for Mrs. Helen Elizabeth Gardner Kennington of 204 Clark St. will be conducted at 3 p.m. today, Wednesday, June 17, at Flint Ridge Baptist Church in Heath Springs. The Rev. Kelvin Hinson and the Rev. Sam Kennington will officiate and burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Great Falls.

Mrs. Kennington, 76, died Monday, June 15, 2009, at her residence.

Born in Kershaw County on March 28, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Fred Isaac and Bleeker Morgan Gardner. She attended the schools of Kershaw County and was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens Co. Mrs. Kennington was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff Kennington and his wife, Mary, of Charlotte and the Rev. Sam Kennington and his wife, Missy, of Lancaster; a daughter, Cynthia Kennington of Kershaw; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Gardner of Hartsville; and two sisters, Floree Todd and Nell Brown of Kershaw.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Crawford Kennington; and a son, Dennis Kennington.

Memorials may be made to Flint Ridge Baptist Church, 1850 Flint Ridge Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.
