US Congressman. He attended the LaSalle Military Academy, received a commission in the US Army Reserves in 1929, graduated from Georgetown Law School, Washington, D.C., in 1931, was admitted to the bar and commenced the practice of law in Washington, D.C. During World War II, he served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army and after the war he was a member of the New York City Council, (1946-49). In 1949, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first and Eighty-second Congresses, serving until 1953. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was an executive vice president for the companies of Unexcelled Chemical, Premier Chemical and Modene Paint, until his death at age 59.
