US Congressman. Elected to represent New York's 18th District in the Sixteenth Congress, he served from 1819 to 1821. He was not a candidate for reelection in 1820. Ford's early life was spent in Fairfield, New York, where he was educated at the Fairfield Seminary and admitted to the bar in 1809. He was a member of the State Assembly in 1816 and 1817, and was briefly appointed commissioner to perform the duties of a Judge of the Supreme Court. From 1817 to around 1830 he lived in Watertown, Jefferson County, a period that saw his single term in Congress, election for one term as County District Attorney, and service as a village trustee (1827). He then retired to Sackets Harbor, where he died.
