|Birth: ||Sep. 16, 1853|
|Death: ||Apr. 11, 1939|
Louis was born in Europe, probably Magdeburg, Germany. In census and other records, he gave his birth variously as in Belgium, Germany, and England. Similarly, his birth year was recorded as being 1848 to 1854. It is most likely he was born in 1853 and emigrated to the US in 1873.
He was working as a waiter in a restaurant in Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri in 1880. On 29 Nov 1880 he married Susanna 'Anna' Klein, daughter of August Klein and Minnie (Biedermann) Klein. They had two children, though only one survived childhood: son Emil Freudenthal (1886-1976).
The family moved to Chicago in the 1890s. In Chicago, Louis worked first as a waiter and then owned a cleaning and dying business for a time. In the 1920s and '30s he and Emil ran an electrical contracting business.
Louis was the youngest of 9 siblings. His brother Emil was a cattle dealer in Manchester, England. His sister, Rosa (Freudenthal) Monnish, [Find A Grave Memorial# 55958036] ran a women's clinic in Atlanta, Georgia. His half-sister Henriette (Freudenthal) Francke lived in London, England. His brother Benno was in the clothing business in New York. And another brother was a physician in Europe. His other siblings are not known. Louis' parents were Alexander and Jeanette (Hartman) Freudenthal, of Magdeburg, Germany.
