Anna was born in East St. Louis, Illinois. She was the daughter of August Klein, a butcher, and Mina (Biedermann) Klein. She married Charles Louis Freudenthal in St. Louis on 29 Nov 1880. They had two children, one of whom died at the age of only 4 months. Their surviving son was Emil Frederick Freudenthal (1886-1976). The family moved to Chicago in the 1890s. Anna was apparently working in a shop when she met Louis and then spent her married life as a housewife.
