Actress. She was an Australian-born British actress, who starred in "The Ghost Train" in 1931 and "Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines" in 1965. She appeared in 12 British films in the 1930s, and one in Hollywood, finding this work to be very lucrative. During the first season, she starred in the role as Mum in the comedy series "On the Buses." While appearing in her last West End run in 1971, she celebrated 70 years on the stage. She became a Dame Commander of the British Empire (D.B.E.) for services to the theatre.
