U.S. Congressman. Moving to California, in 1917, he was Secretary to San Bernardino, County Board of Supervisors, (1941-43). During World War II, he served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve, (1943-46). After the war, he was Postmaster of San Bernardino, (1947-54), an insurance company executive, (1954-61) and a member of board of directors for Los Angeles Airways, (1956-64). In 1965, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-ninth Congress, serving until 1967. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he was regional director of the San Francisco Post Office Department, (1966-69) and Regional Programs Coordinator of the United States Post Office Department, (1969-71).
