Rev. Dr. Daniel Steele was the son of Perez and Clarissa (Brainard) Steele. He was the husband of Harriet (Binney) Steele. They were married August 8, 1850. Harriet died February 24, 1902. Rev. Steele was a minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church: New England Conference 1849 F 1851 Genesee (now Western New York) Conference by transfer 1863 New England Conference by transfer 1872. In 1872 he was elected president of Syracuse University. Later he became a professor in the School Of Theology at Boston University.
