Mary Jane WRIGHT was born on 6 Jun 1886 in Belleville, Hastings Co., Ontario, Canada to John Lewis WRIGHT and Martha Matilda "Tillie" PLANE.

She immigrated with her family to the Thumb in 1889 when she was a young little girl. She married Fred DaFOE and had 13 children, 5 of whom died as infants and one died as a ten year old girl. The rest lived to full adulthood.

Mary Jane WRIGHT married Fred DaFOE on 31 May 1904 in Sanilac Centre, Sanilac Co., Michigan.

MRS. FRED DAFOE
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, April 23 [March 23, 1968] from the LaMotte United Missionary church for Mary Jane Dafoe, 81, Decker, who passed away March 20, 1968 in the Marlette hospital following a brief illness.
Rev. Louis Surbrook, Cass City, officiated and burial was in Hillside cemetery near Argyle.
Mrs. Dafoe was born in Bellville, Ontario on June 6, 1886 and has been a resident of the Decker area for 45 years and of Sanilac county most of her life.
She was Married to Fred Dafoe on May 31, 1904 at Sandusky. He passed away on December 9, 1958.
Mrs. Dafoe was a member of the LaMotte United Missionary church.
Surviving are two sons, Orville of Lansing and Lawrence of Birmingham; five daughtsr [daughters], Mr. Howard (Ida) Levitt, Decker; Mrs. Emerson (Lottie) Griffin, Rochester; Mrs. Merill (Sarah) Pearson, Flint; Mrs. Archie (Violetta) Eagle, Yale; Mrs. Stafford (Leah) Higgins, Peck; Three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scarborough, Carsonville; Mrs. Oscar Issler and Miss Gertrude Wright both of Applegate; two brothers, Charles Wright of Snover, and Clifford Wright of Berkley; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren and two great, great granddaughters.
The remains were in the Hacker Funeral Parlors until 11 am Saturday where they were removed to the church to lie in state from noon until the time of services.

Mrs. Fred Dafoe Dies at 81
Mary J. Dafoe, 81, a resident of the Decker area for 45 years, died Wednesday, March 20, in Marlette Community Hospital, after a brief illness.
She was born June 6, 1886 in Belleville, Ont., and was married to Fred Dafoe May 31, 1904 in Sandusky. He died in 1958.
She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Dafoe, Birmingham, and Orville, Lansing; five daughters, Mrs. Howard Levitt, Decker; Mrs. Emerson Griffin, Rochester; Mrs. Merrill Pearson, Flint; Mrs. Archie Eagle, Yale, and Mrs. Stafford Higgins, Peck; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and two great great granddaughters; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Scarborough and Miss Gertrude Wright, both of Carsonville, and Mrs. Oscar Issler, Applegate, two brothers Charles Wright, Snover and Clifford Wright, Berkley, Mich.
The remains were in Hacker Funeral Parlors in Sandusky.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday in LaMotte Missionary church with Rev. Louis Surbrook, officiated.
Burial was in Sutherland Cemetery [Hillside Cemetery], near Argyle.
