--------------------------

Born in Leigh, Nebraska on June 10th, 1895. Born to Lina, who was Swiss, and Hermann, who was Prussian-German. The eldest of their 4 children. What a happy day that must have been; knowing their new baby girl was an American!

Now this is the way I've heard the story from Grandma June and Auntie Nellie. I've got several signatures of Grandpa Wolf; not one has an 'e'. Nor does his headstone.

Great Grandma chose to add an 'e' on the end of her married name of Wolf. I think she thought that was the proper way to spell it. I've also noticed that Uncle Daniel Brown Wolfe (1866-1944), my great grandpa's brother, spelled it this way as well. All of her children followed the example and every generation since. I write this just in case someone thinks I matched her up incorrectly with my Great Grandfather because of the spelling and ALSO because of the age difference. He indeed WAS 23 years older!

Ervin and Clara were married November 26, 1916 in Blachly at the old Wolfe homeplace.  Ross and Daisy Myers stood up as their witnesses. They had 6 children: Osburne, Raymond, Margaret, Harold, June, and Nellie. They had one stillborn child in 1922 in between Raymond and the birth of Margaret.

Grandma Clara was a very special lady. My mom has wonderful memories of spending nights with her as a little girl.
She ALWAYS wore a dress and always had long hair which she kept in a bun. At bedtime she would take it down and brush and braid it.

Auntie Nellie said her mother was a hard worker. She never complained, and rarely spoke unkindly about other people. She never heard her swear. She was very kind hearted.
