Alverda Luse, 90, of Loudonville died Friday morning, Jan. 21, 2011, at Samaritan Hospital after a brief illness.

Mrs. Luse was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Painesville, the daughter of Raymond and Gladys (née Smith) Judkins.

She was a Loudonville resident since the early 1950s. She had been a legal secretary for attorneys Francis Smith and Alan Schaffer, and had also worked at The Style Shop. She assisted her husband, Walter, while he served as Loudonville fair board secretary. Mrs. Luse was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Loudonville.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerry and Julie Luse of Brooksville, Fla., and Pete and Mary Ann Luse of Tiffin; one daughter, Sharon Godwin of Painesville; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; and a sister, Marion (Tom) Weedom of Painesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Luse, on Nov. 2, 1994; a granddaughter; and two brothers, Don and Alva Judkins.

Memorial services will take place 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at First Presbyterian Church, Loudonville, with Pastor Kathleen Walkerow officiating.

Private family burial will be in Loudonville Cemetery. There will be no visitation.

The Luse family request memorial contributions be made to First Presbyterian Church, 225 E. Main St., Loudonville, Ohio 44842; Ashland County Animal Shelter, 1710 Garfield Ave., Ashland, Ohio 44805; or Loudonville Fire Department/EMS Inc., 200 N. Market St., Loudonville, Ohio 44842.
