Pauline Alice Millender Banks was born in Ceredo, West Virginia on February 2, 1904 to Pauline Osner Millender and John Henry Millender. Her husband, Overton Barns Banks, preceded her in death. They were married June 6, 1932 in Beaumont TX. He passed away on August 7, 1969.

Pauline grew up in Holden and Independence, Missouri. She graduated from Central Missouri State Teachers College, and did graduate work at Columbia University. She received her Masters Degree in Art from the University of Houston and taught art in Independence, Missouri, Beaumont, and Houston, Texas. In Houston, she taught at Jefferson Davis High School. Mrs. Banks was a long time member of Bethany United Methodist Church. She died quietly in her sleep Sunday, November 18, 2001, at Memorial Spring Shadows Pines after a brief illness.

She is survived by her two daughters, Julia Banks Cox and Margaret Banks Taylor; her son-in-law, Larry Taylor; and 5 grandchildren, David Richardson, Karen Cox Nickel, Clare Richardson, John Cox, and Jennifer Taylor Schatz; 2 great-grandchildren, Ryan and Paige Richardson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2001, at 2:00 P.M. at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer at Dairy Ashford.
