An interesting and useful life came to a close Friday morning at 6:30, when Mrs. Rebecca Marshall Kenyon passed away at her home near Cullen, after a few days illness from heart trouble. She was born in the town of Warren, Heckimer Co., September 9th, 1852, a daughter of Daniel and Lucy (Green) Marshall. She was educated [in] the district school and Richfield select school. She was united in marriage to Samuel P. Kenyon, an officer in the Civil War, on Jan. 2, 1873.
Mr. and Mrs. Kenyon began their married life on the farm which has always been her home. Her husband died 41 years ago, leaving her with four small children, to whom she had been a most devoted mother. A son, Marshal Kenyon, died several years ago. There survive two sons and one daughter. Darwin B. Kenyon and Miss Florence, who have always lived with their mother on the home farm, and the Rev. Floyd S. Kenyon, rector of Christ’s Episcopal Church, at West Haven, Conn. Rev. Kenyon and his bride had just returned a few hours preceding their mother’s death, from a two months’ wedding trip, spent in Europe, and were unable to reach here before she passed away.
Funeral services were held privately Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock, the Rev. Johnson A. Sprinsted, of St. Jon’s Episcopal Church of which Mrs. Kenyon was a member, officiating. Interment was made in Lakeview Cemetery.
The sympathy of many friends and neighbors who admired and respected Mrs. Kenyon, is extended to her bereaved family.
