Mary (Remington) Raines was the daughter of Col. Thaddeus and Rhoda (Root) Remington. She was the wife of Rev. John Raines. They were married May 8, 1838. Rev. Raines was a minister in the Genesee Conference and East Genesee Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He died September 4, 1877.
