Loy Lee Allen, 95, passed away in Athens at the East Texas Medical Center, on Monday, August 25, 2008.

He was born in Emhouse Texas on May 23, 1913 to parents Oliver E. and Minnie Alma Landrum Allen. He graduated from Emhouse High School. He was married to Nellie Allene Nowell on Nov. 20, 1935 and they made their home in Dallas. In 1978 they moved to Cedar Creek Lake.

Mr. Allen served in the U.S. Army in WWII in the Pacific Theatre.

He was employed by Metzger Dairy in Houston and Dallas. He retired from the Kroger Company in 1978. Afterwards he opened Lee Allen Real Estate.

He was a member of the Cedar Creek First Methodist Church; and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by one son, Harvey G. and Cathy Schwerdt Allen of Madison, N.J.; three daughters and their husbands, Anita and James Rushing of Allen, Texas; Marie and Reggie Howard of Bullard, Texas; and Doris and James Hollingsworth of Whitney, six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters and his wife Nellie on Oct. 16., 1996.

A graveside service was set for Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis , on Wednesday Aug. 27, 2008 at 11 a.m., under the direction of JE Keever Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alzheimers Research.
