Cartoonist. He created the "Prince Valiant" comic character and weekly comic strip, drawing it from 1937 until his retirement in 1975. The strip is still drawn in the modern day but other artists. Previous to "Prince Valiant", he drew a popular weekly strip featuring Edgar Rice Burrough's "Tarzan" character from 1929 to 1937.
