MUNCIE--Juanita L. Chesnut, 94, Muncie, died early Tuesday morning in Muncie Health Care and Rehabilitation after an extended illness.
She was born in Bloomfield, the daughter of John N. and Harriet Holbert Roach, attended schools in Sanborn, married her late husband, Louis Chesnut, in 1926, lived in Lynn for a short time, and came to Muncie in 1929.
Mrs. Chesnut received her G.E.D. in 1991 at the age of 82 and later completed the course requirements for the master of arts degree from Ball State University with a double major in applied gerontology and adult education.
She was at one time employed with Ernst Nursery, G&M Feed & Seed, and Ball Stores.
Surviving are her son, John D. Chesnut (wife: Martha E.), Muncie; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; three daughters, Mary Louise Chesnut, Janet Wilson and Nancy LaWall; and a son, Phillip Chesnut.
Services will be in First Baptist Church at 2 p.m. today, with Rev. William W. Noblitt, pastor, officiating. Entombment will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the church an hour before services today. The Meeks Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
