BAXTER - Funeral services for Henry (Jim) Jernigan Jr., 76, of Baxter, will be held at 1 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel of Baxter Funeral Home and a Masonic service will follow at 7 p.m.

Burial will be at Smellage Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today and until the time of services tomorrow.

Mr. Jernigan died at his home on Friday, Nov. 12, 1999.

He was born on April 1, 1923, to Henry Grady and Nola Lowe Jernigan.

Mr. Jernigan was a member of the Boma Church of God and was a retired lab tech machinist for Michigan Screw Products.

A veteran of World War II, Mr. Jernigan served in the European Theater of the war and acted as a military guard during the Nuremburg trials in Germany.

He attended the University of Heidelberg in Germany and was a member of the Masonic Lodge 550 in Center Line, Mich.

His family includes his wife, Eileen Waller Jernigan of Baxter; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Karen Jernigan of Maryville and Kerry and Sandi Jernigan of Brandywine, Maryland; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Don Haley of Baxter; a brother and sister-in-law, Norman Byrd and Peggy Jernigan of Clermont, Fla.; five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Olive Jared of Baxter, Judy Moore of Cebolo, Texas, Pearl Harris of Baxter and Doris and Carlen Watson and Jean and Arnold Lee Robinson, all of Baxter; two sisters-in-law, Martha and Betty Jernigan, and a sister-in-law and her husband, Joyce and James West of Baxter.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bros. Jim Holifield and Archie Whitefield will officiate at the services.
