Nov. 8, 1928, Southern Aegis: Died, Oct. 26, 1928, Rev. J. C. Bice, aged 83 years, at his home near Ashville, where he had lived for the past thirty-six years. He leaves to mourn his departure 3 sons, and 4 daughters. N. S. Bice, N. A. Bice, J. W. Bice, Miss Mary Bice, Mrs. M. N. Williams, Mrs. T. J. Williams, Mrs. Missouri Davis. His place in his community will be hard to fill. He was a loving father and a true friend. He lived the Gospel at home that he began to preach in 1876. He was an old Confederate soldier. He was buried at Friendship Cemetery by Masons. Funeral sermon by Rev. C. J. Donahoo.
