US Congressman. Born in Wallingford, New Haven County, Connecticut, he served in the War of 1812. After the war, he was supervisor of the Town of Cambria in 1814, studied law, was admitted to the bar about 1815 and commenced to practice law in Lewiston, New York. In 1831, he was elected as an Anti-Masonic candidate to the Twenty-second Congress, serving until 1833. After his term he with his brother Lathrop Cooke, were partners of the Lewiston Railroad Company which operated with the Lockport & Niagara Railroad Company in 1835 and was comptroller of the State of New York in 1839. He served as a bank commissioner from 1840, until his death at age 53 in Lewiston, New York.
