Ira, who is better known as Dean, was born to Reuben and Zora (Snyder) Allen. Dean married Clara (TenEyck) on January 15, 1949 and they have four children: their first born, Linda (Allen) Simon, who passed away just 17 days before him; Robert Allen (somewhere in Louisiana and we don't care where); Brenda (Allen) Russell (Sandusky, OH); and Daniel Allen (Graytown, OH). He is also survived by four grandchildren; Ken Simon (Walbridge, OH); Christine Kenyon (Sandusky, OH); Zackary & Miranda Allen (Graytown, OH); and a Great Grandson, J.D. Simon (Walbridge, OH). Dean was employed by Libbey Owens Ford before becoming an Insurance Salesman for National Life Insurance. He was a member of the Mason unity and is also a veteran of the US Army, along with being a member of the Port Lawrence Lodge #685 in Port Clinton. Him and Clara owned rental properties on the shore of Lake Erie by Turtle Point and became friends with many people throughout his time with his renters. Dean was very involved with family and friends. He never had time for himself since he gave it to everyone else who needed it, but no matter what he was doing, he enjoyed the fact that he was being a part of their life. His wishes were to be cremated and for the most part, his ashes were evolved into Lake Erie, but some of his remains are being kept in a jar so part of him will be buried in the Lake Township cemetery along with his loving wife and best friend, Clara, when she passes away. He will be missed by everyone who had the fortune of knowing one of the greatest men that I know...My Grandpa.
