U.S. Congressman. Graduating from Wichita High School in 1898, he then studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1901 and commenced to practice law in Wichita, Kansas. He served as judge of the district court of the eighteenth judicial district of Kansas, (1916-21). In 1921, he was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress, serving until 1923. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law and was the legal United States referee in bankruptcy at Wichita, Kansas, (1925-27). Relocating to California, in 1937, he lived in retirement until his death at age 76.
