Philanthropist. She was the daughter of Senator Nelson W. Aldrich. Married to John D. Rockefeller, Jr., she was the mother of Abby, John D. III, Nelson, Laurance, Winthrop, and David Rockefeller. She encouraged the establishment of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, to which she donated over 2000 items, and the restoration of Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia, where the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Collection was dedicated.
