Mrs. Eliza Harris died on September 6, 1923 at the Brick Church Pike home of her daughter, Mrs. D.B. Evans. With the passing of Mrs. Harris departs another Civil War mother, who offered both her sons and her home for the Confederate cause. Her home was on the site of the Battle of Murfreesboro, and she offered her home for a hospital. Her two sons, T.F. Harris and M.C. Harris answered the Confederate call, with the former serving under General Forrest.
Mrs. Harris was a lifelong resident of Nashville and was an active member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by daughters Mrs. D.B. Evans, Mrs. N.D. Knight, and Mrs. J.W. Christian; by sons Capt. A.J. Harris of Nashville and A.R. Harris of Oklahoma City, twenty grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
