John J. Fergus , 51, of Mt. Prospect passed away suddenly on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011.

He was born in Chicago Nov. 17, 1959 to John and Jo Fergus .

John served 22 honorable years in the military.

John was a forever free spirit, the first to offer help to a friend or stranger, a devoted family man and a trusted friend to all that knew him.

Loving husband of 15 years to Bettina and a devoted father to Brendan, Matthew, Michael and Aiden.

He will be deeply missed by his parents; his siblings, Kathy, Jim, Bill (Courtney), Bob (Diane), Jo Ann and Brenda; he was a fond uncle to Kelly and Megan; he will be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Lore Adam; father-in-law, Max (Heinke) Adam; and brother-in-law, Stefan; and his many aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday March 2, 2011, 3 to 9 p.m., at the Friedrichs Funeral Home, 320 W. Central Rd., Mt. Prospect.

John will be lying in state from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday March 3, 2011.

at St. Raymond de Penafort Church, Elmhurst Rd. (Rt .83), at Lincoln St., Mt. Prospect, Internment will be at All Saints Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations for the Fergus Family Fund in care of Friedrichs Funeral Home. 847-398-4000.
