Leo was born the son of Thomas and Thelma Massey, one of nine children, in Jacob's Well, Texas. He has gone home to join his parents, and wife, Vida Joyce Massey and brothers Elton Massey, Henry Massey, Davis Massey and sisters, Hattie Etheredge and Loveda Hamilton. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 22 years, Toni Dugas Massey; sons, Michael Doyle Massey and wife, Ann of Tulsa, Oklahoma and John E Dugas, III and wife, Jaquelyn of Kingwood, Texas; grandchildren, Genevieve Joyce Massey, Jamie Lynn Dugas, John E. Dugas IV, Julianne Marie Dugas and Jack Anderson Dugas (expected Nov, 2002). Surviving brother, Tomas Massey and wife, Harriett of Wimberley, Texas; and sisters, Vida Williamson of Wimberly, Texas and Mozelle Milstead and husband, Bill of Houston; mother-in-law, Josephine DiMaggio of Houston; brother-in-law, Sam DiMaggio and wife, Sharon of Houston; and sister-in-law, Mary Ann Stanley of Lafayette, La. Numerous nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces also survive. A 1940 graduate of Wimberley High School, Leo enlisted in the US Navy in September 1942 and served his country during WWII as an Aviation Ordinanceman First Class. Honorably discharged in December, 1945, he returned to Houston and was a 1947 graduate of the University of Houston. Known for almost 50 years to the Houston-Area mechanical contracting world as Jack Massey, he co-founded Massey-Grave Mechanical Contractors in 1958 with partner, James R. Graves and was Vice President of the company until his retirement in the late 1980's. Massey was a past President of Houson Area Contractors Association and held HACL license number 0005. An avid outdoorsman, he spent almost every fall in Sonora joined by his brothers as he introduced son John, grandchildren Johnny and Jamie and others to deer hunting. A car enthusiast, he was the proud owner of several antique cars including the award winning 1929 Ford Model A Phaeton "Honey" which he showed at car shows and drove in parades. A lifetime member of the Houston Area Livestock Show and Rodeo since 1983, he served 15 years on the Breeding Poultry Committee. Still active while retired and living on Lake Conroe, he served in various capacities including several terms as President of the Shaw Bay Home Owners Association.
