Graveside funeral services for Dorothy Monroe, 83, of Bullard, formerly of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. Hans Wakeman officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 19, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.

Mrs. Monroe died Friday, March 18, 2011, at her residence.

Dorothy Malone was born on Sept. 13, 1927, in Sulphur Springs, the daughter of Henry and Sudie (Conner) Anderson.

She married Angus Eugene Monroe. He preceded her in death in 1974.

Dorothy retired from Southwestern Bell as a Comptroller. She was of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include one son, Grant Monroe and wife, Darlene, of Bullard; one edaughter, Anita Monroe of Texarkana; two brothers, Arlon Anderson of Sulphur Springs and Kenneth Anderson of Brashear; three grandchildren, Sudie Monroe, Lavoynne Tackett and Melanie Monroe; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Karitis and Skye Karitis.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.

Arrangements are under the direction of Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
