Ray C. Ahlander, 78, died Sunday, February 15, 1998 in a Holladay nursing home of congestive heart failure.

Born April 20, 1919 in Salt Lake City, son of Elmer and Clara Ahlander. He attended public schools in Salt Lake City and the University of Utah where he majored in accounting. Married Beth McKean on November 20, 1942. She died on May 24, 1989. Married Mary Clark on January 17, 1991. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Navy. Employed as chief financial officer for Salt Lake City Public Utilities Department for many years. Survived by his mother, Clara; his wife, Mary; two sons, Scott Ahlander and Brent (Linda) Ahlander, a daughter, Nancy (Richard) Scott and four grandchildren, Sarah, Steven and Sierra Ahlander and Michael Scott, all of Salt Lake City. Also two sisters-in-law, Lois (Hal) Harmon, Salt Lake City; Carol (Dan) Livingston, Palo Alto, CA. Preceded in death by his father, Elmer; brother, Jack, and granddaughter, Rachel Ahlander.

Graveside services will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998 in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park (Sunrise Section). Friends may call from 10:30-11:00 a.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Dr. prior to services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to your favorite charity.
