Thomas Amory Deblois Fessenden (1826-1868)

U.S. Congressman. He attended North Yarmouth Academy, Dartmouth College, graduated from Bowdoin College, in 1845, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1848 and began to practice law in Mechanic Falls, Maine. He was a delegate to the Republican National Convention (1856, 68), a member of the Maine House of Representatives, (1860, 68) and prosecuting attorney for Androscoggin County, (1861-62). In 1862, he was elected as a Republican to the Thirty-seventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Charles W. Walton, serving until 1863. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 42. His brothers were Treasury Secretary William P. Fessenden and Congressman Samuel C. Fessenden.
