Animal Actor. Doug and Lynne Seus adopted Bart when he was 5 weeks old, a tiny Kodiak brown bear that was born in the Baltimore Zoo to a captive bear. Bart grew to over nine feet tall and weighed over 1,500 pounds in his prime. Because of his impressive size and good-natured demeanor, Bart was in huge demand in the film industry. He starred in two dozen feature films and television episodes, including "The Bear" (1988), "The Great Outdoors" (1988), "White Fang" (1991), "Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey" (1993), "On Deadly Ground" (1994), "Legends of the Fall" (1994), "12 Monkeys" (1995) and "The Edge" (1997). In 1990, Bart became a global ambassador for wild grizzlies when the Seus's launched The Vital Ground Foundation to save bear habitats around the world.
