Wife of Max Liebermann. After her husband's art was banned by the Nazis, was supported by well-wishers. On 5th March 1943 she received a deportation order - by this stage of the regime, it was clear what this implied. Her last letter, to a supporter, asking for his advice in this situation, is on display in the Jewish Museum, Berlin; but on the same evening she concluded her only escape was by suicide.
