US Congressman. Born in Youngstown, Ohio, he attended Youngstown State University as a staff member and was vice-president of Mahoning County CIO Industrial Council. He was president of the United Rubber Workers Union Local 102, (1934-50) and staff representative, of the United Steelworkers of America, (1950-68). In 1970, he was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-first Congress, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of United States Representative Michael Kirwan, and reelected to the next four succeeding Congresses, serving until 1979. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he retired from politics. He died at age 74 in Youngstown, Ohio.
