After the war, he worked as a mechanic and was alderman of the City of Milwaukee,. In 1947, he was elected as a Republican to the Eightieth Congress and served until 1949. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in sales and public relations until retiring in 1969. He died at age 75 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
