Thompson Bird Lamar, son of L.Q.C. Lamar, Sr., listed his occupation as "gentleman" when he enlisted in the C.S.A. When the commanding officer of the 5th Fl. Inf. was wounded, he received a battlefield promotion, and took command. Shortly thereafter, he was shot off his horse by a Yankee sniper during the Siege of Petersburg.

He was the son of Lucius Quintus Lamar, Sr.(b.1797 - d. 1834), and Sarah Williamson Bird, (b.1802 - d.1879).
Referring to The History of the Lamar or Lemar Family in America and The Centennial History of Anna Jackson Chapter No. 224, United Daughters of the Confederacy, here are the names of the children of Thompson Bird Lamar, Col., CSA, and his wife, Sarah Burch Bailey, a daughter of Gen. William Bailey (who was married three times and had many children...):

5. Sarah, who married Josiah Lewis and had three children: Sarah, Thompson Lamar Lewis, and Miles Walker Lewis, who became a judge in Duval County.
