Professional Football Player from 1926 to 1935. Head Coach of the Boston/Washington Redskins from 1936 to 1942, winning 4 division titles and 2 championships. Inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1976 for contributions as a coach. Credited with inventing the screen pass in 1937. He was the first person in professional sports to have his number retired.
