Duke University's most prestigious scholarships, the Angier B. Duke Awards, were established in his memory by his father.
In his will, Angier left $250,000 to Trinity (later renamed Duke University), as well as generous bequests to Methodists churches and orphanages.
Angier was divorced at the time of his death, having been married to Cordelia Drexel Biddle (later Robertson), whose brother, Anthony, was married to Angier's sister, Mary. The 1956 Broadway comedy, "The Happiest Millionaire," based on the book, "My Philadelphia Father," written by Angier's former wife, Cordelia, and Kyle Crichton, featured the courtship and romance of "Angie" and "Cordy."
