Son of Jacob Oswald and Helen Gillett. Married to Margarette Schroth in Effingham Co, IL in 1887. Father of Helena ("Lena") Oswald, Margaret ("Maud") Oswald Adler, Lottie Oswald (died young) and Raymond Oswald. They lived in Effingham Co, IL at first where George worked as a teamster. George and Margarette separated sometime after their son Raymond's self-inflicted death in 1915, and George moved back to New York where he died in 1926 at Lee Memorial Hospital in Fulton. Maggie lived to be 96, she died in a Normandy, Missouri nursing home in 1963.
