U.S. Congressman. After graduating from High School, he served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army, during World War I. After the war, he established a successful publishing career as the owner-publisher of the Edna Sun in Altamont, Kansas, (1924-41). He was also was an officer with Kansas State Highway Commission, (1939-50). In 1950, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-first Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Herbert A. Meyer, elected to the Eighty-second Congress and reelected to the next three succeeding Congresses, serving until 1959. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in public relations in the transportation and construction fields, until his death at age 72.
