US Congressman. During World War II he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving as a Lieutenant (j.g.) from 1943 to 1946. He was elected as a Republican to represent three different Pennsylvania Congressional Districts in the United States House of Representatives. He first represent the 26th District from 1949 to 1953, then the 22nd District from 1953 to 1973, then finally the 12th District for a brief time until his death in office.
