A native of Lynn, Massachusettes, Mr. Rust was born there November 5, 1863. He came to Hastings with his parents when a boy and here grew to manhood, operating a photography shop for several years, with his wife nee Nellie Fitch of Hastings whom he married September 1, 1885.
He left Hastings in 1897 to live in St. Paul where he worked in the engineering department of the Northern Pacific railroad for 30 years. In the early 30's the Rusts left for San Diego, California to reside there until two years ago at which time, because of poor health, they moved to Ronald, Washington to live with a son, Jay B Rust. Mr. Rust was in the hospital two weeks, his death September 24, 1947 being attributed to bronchial pneumonia.
Survivors include five children, Jay B of Ronald; Spencer of Roundup, MT; Clarence L, of St. Paul, Harry L, of Gardiner, MT; and Florence (E.M.) Anderson of St. Paul; 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
Mrs. Rust died May 19 of this year in Ronald, Washington; and her remains were also brought to Hastings for burial.
