US Congressman. Born on a farm in Saginaw County, Michigan, he moved to Chicago, Illinois, at an early age, worked in the automobile industry, plus engaged in the real estate and building business. During World War II, he was active in the war-plant production service and was elected president of Local Union 714, of the United Automobile Workers. In 1949, he was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-first Congress, serving until 1951. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in the real estate and building business, until his death at age 60 in Hammond, Indiana.
