SWORDS CREEK, Va. - Mr. Edward L. Tuggle, 86, of the Long Branch section,
passed away Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in a Richlands, Va., hospital following
a long illness.
Born in Russell County, Va., he was the son of the late Mathew and Ollie Dye
Tuggle. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran, a retired coal miner, a
member of the U.M.W.A. and John Ratliff Post 164 of the American Legion.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Cox
Tuggle.
Mr. Tuggle is survived by two sons: Mr. Berkley C. Tuggle and wife Elizabeth
of Cardington, Ohio, and Mr. Robert Lee Tuggle and wife Judy of Swords Creek;
four brothers, Glenn Tuggle of Pataskala, Ohio, Bert Tuggle of Columbus,
Ohio, Lawrence Tuggle of Swords Creek, Va., and Arch Tuggle of Pataskala;
four sisters, Audrey Dye of Richlands, Dorothy Meade of Centersburg, Ohio,
Beulah Rolen of Swords Creek and Lucy Baldwin of Hampton, Va.; six
grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchld also
survive.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Singleton Funeral Service
Chapel in Cedar Bluff with Rev. R.B. Lambert and Rev. Ancil Childress
officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool
Hill, Va. Grandsons will'serve as pallbearers. The family will receive
friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff from 6-9 p.m. Monday.
